Cooking & Networking with Fab Women through Urban Girl Squad!

If you are a woman in your 20s and 30s, you should definitely have Urban Girl Squad on your radar! They are a NYC social networking group that brings women together through fantastic and creative events! From wine tasting to spa events to shooting range outings to volunteering...they have you covered with a wide array of activity and networking opportunities!

When I learned they had a cooking lesson event listed on their events page, I knew I wanted to attend! I had my first cooking lesson (http://bit.ly/10QWuWq) at the end of January, and was inspired to want to participate in more classes. I especially wanted to attend a class through Urban Girl Squad and have the opportunity to network and meet some new, fabulous women!

I arrived at the Stonehenge apartment cooking lesson location, where they had tall, round tables spread throughout the room. Every table had a clear view of a long table set up for the cooking lesson and demonstration. Before the lesson began, there was wine and snacks available while you mingled with other women.

Our Event Leader Rachel Giving the Class Introduction
Our lesson was given by Chef Shaya Klechevskey. He was great! People of both genders and all ages should have him on their radar!

Chef Shaya & I
The Chef was personable, fun and, more importantly for a cooking lesson...very knowledgeable in the kitchen.  He demonstrated the recipes with ease, knew just the right way to explain the process, and gave great cooking/food tips throughout the lesson. It was interactive and fun. I  definitely took many great recipes and tips away!

Our Menu:

  • Blue-Green Smoothie with bananas, oranges, blueberries and kale
  • Creamy Kale - Apple Soup
  • Arugula, Fennel, Orange and Walnut Salad
  • Spicy Korean Collard Wraps filled with walnuts, pears, basil & more

Arugula, Fennel, Orange and Walnut Salad
A fabulous feature was that you were given samples of everything that was prepared immediately following Chef Shaya's completion of each recipe. This lesson was geared towards creative and healthy lunches and everything was delicious. I have already made two of the four recipes and plan on making them all!

One great aspect of Urban Girl Squad events is that they have a photographer capture each event for you.

All women in their 20s and 30s in the NYC area should definitely sign up for updates about Urban Girl Squad events or regularly check their events page.  They always have something new and different!

A big thank you to both Urban Girl Squad and Chef Shaya for a very enjoyable evening!
